Scoliosis is a back condition that causes the spine to curve to the side, which results to bad posture and back pain. It develops in children and adolescents, between the ages of 9 and 16, during the growth spurt of puberty. It differs from kyphosis (convex curvature of the spine in the thoracic region) and lordosis (inward curvature of the lumbar and cervical regions of the spine), as the curve is to the side.
In most cases, scoliosis occurs gradually and if it’s not severe it can be painless. You can detect scoliosis by looking at …

Rehabilitation and treatment of the perineum in children suffering from bedwetting (or nocturnal enuresis).
Home visits available within London or at our Belgravia and Monument practices
An important part of growing up for children is learning to go to the toilet by yourself. In fact, schools will often only accept children who are potty trained and no longer wearing diapers.
Children are usually potty trained at 2 years old and should no longer be wetting the bed. Unfortunately learning to control their bladder is a very complex process even more so than learning to walk.
Medicating your child is not the best solution.
Rehabilitation with a specialist physiotherapist is indeed more efficient. At Baby Physio, our paediatric physiotherapits are trained and experienced with nocturnal enuresis and incontinence in children. They offer a treatment plan combining playful exercises and ….
Information about Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
COPD is the name given for lung disease such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema or chronic obstructive airways disease.Airflow obstruction occurs and results in breathing difficulties, persistent coughing as well as recurring chest infections. The airways suffer a persistent inflammation leading to permanent damage.
The primary cause for COPD is noxious particles or gas, most commonly from tobacco smoking, which triggers an abnormal inflammatory response in the lung. Other factors are passive smoking, air pollution, exposure to fumes and dust at work.
In the alveoli, the inflammatory response causes destruction of the tissues of the lung, a process known as emphysema.
People with COPD usually get diagnosed after 35 when it is more noticeable. Symptoms include breathlessness, persistent cough with phlegm, chest infections and wheezing. Those symptoms worsen during winter. Additional symptoms might be weight loss, fatigue and swollen ankles.
Diagnosis is made by performing breathing test called spirometery to see how well the lungs are performing. Other tests involve blood test, chest x-rays or phlegm sample.
There is currently no cure for COPD. However, treatments will help slow the progression and reduce symptoms. Chest physiotherapy and physical activities are necessary if you want to minimize the symptoms. The different chest physiotherapy techniques can help for a better quality of life and controlling the attacks as you learn for example an effective abdominal breathing, how to drain your lungs from the thick obstructing mucus, relax your chest by stretching and strengthen your respiratory
muscles in order to obtain a maximum breathing comfort in your everyday life.
Quitting smoking is the priority if the patient is a smoker. Medicines are available and are different
depending on the severity of the symptoms.
Our physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments are covered by most health insurances and are Bupa registered & recognised (BUPA Global and BUPA UK), Axa registered & recognised (AXA International, AXA PPP), Cigna registered & recognised and WPA registered & recognised

London adult chest physiotherapy and respiratory rehabilitation
Whether you are suffering from an acute respiratory illness such as bronchitis, a chest infection or pneumonia or even chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, cystic fibrosis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), also known as chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD) as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, chest physiotherapy can help.
For severe respiratory illness, chest physiotherapy will help you clean the mucus from your lungs and will assist a faster recovery with none or very little medication. A bronchial drainage will allow your lungs to be clear of obstructing mucus avoiding the spread of the infection. This drainage of mucus allows your body to fight the infection by using its energy to attack the virus or bacteria instead of fighting the production of phlegm thus helping a prompter recovery. It will bring you a definite respiratory relief that will promote a quick recovery in the best possible conditions.
For the chronic respiratory diseases, the different chest physiotherapy techniques can help for a better quality of life and controlling the attacks as you learn for example an effective abdominal breathing (ex asthma), how to drain your lungs from the thick obstructing mucus, relax your chest by stretching and strengthen your respiratory muscles in order to obtain a maximum breathing comfort in your everyday life.
